ABOUT SANDRA OVENDEN
Sandra was born in North Queensland, Australia in 1984 and developed a love for art from an early age. She studied Graphic Design and Fine Art at University before moving to Perth in 2004 to start an apprenticeship as a tattooist. She has been tattooing ever since and as of 2013 has been working out of Adorned Empire, a private, custom studio in Fremantle WA.
In addition to tattooing she is an avid painter and illustrator, working primarily with pencil, but also in oils, ink and watercolor. Her subject matter generally deals with the feminine, and the juxtaposition between light and dark within. These works depict both the gentle and serene mixed with haunting and sombre imagery. She is inspired by old fables and dark fairy tales. Her works also deal with fantasy, mysticism, beauty as well as religious iconology.
