“I came up with the idea of putting the Earth Crusher character in a heroic pose holding a woman like some 50’s movie poster some years ago and I decided to revisit the idea with the Statue of Liberty in his arms. He is shown “saving the girl” or doing what he may think is right, while at the same time taking away everyone’s liberty. I didn’t intend to paint it to coincide with Trump’s election as the twin towers are shown in the background, I wanted to illustrate something that has been going on for a long time.” – Earth Crusher
