ABOUT THE SUBWAY LIBRARY
To celebrate cell service and free Wi-Fi in all underground subway stations, NYC public libraries, New York State, MTA, and Transit Wireless have partnered to bring you Subway Library.
Simply connect to TransitWireless Wi-Fi in any MTA station. Once you’re connected, you can read free books, excerpts, and short stories, all provided by NYC’s public libraries.
Subway Library is powered by SimplyE, the free library e-reader app that lets you browse, borrow, and read thousands more library e-books instantly—anywhere, anytime.
In collaboration with the MTA, New York State, TransitWireless and the Queens and Brooklyn Public Libraries, NYPL is bringing us the “Subway Library,” a platform that provides commuters with access to free e-books, short stories and more—whether you’re above or below ground. – Susan Xu At Untapped Cities
To celebrate the launch of the project, a subway train has been decked out to look like—well, an actual library. You can find it running along the 6 Avenue and 8 Avenue corridor lines on the E and F trains.
