Another off beat commish for NYCC 2014. Ink and gray copic markers on gray bristol paper
Illustrations of Michael Dooney
Starfire con drawing I did at NYCC, I just happened to have a piece of yellow/orange paper with me that worked out great

a recent Ivy con sketch
another watercolor piece for San Diego comic con 2014
As a change of pace, I did some watercolor pieces to take along to San Diego this year.
Here’s the piece I did for this years Heroes Con auction. I never heard what it ended up going for…
In my mind, Jean Grey will always be the Byrne era Phoenix.
the second Jean Grey drawing for Heroes con 2014, the Black Queen.
I did three versions of Jean Grey for the recent Heroes Con 2014….I wasn’t reading the comic during this costume period
Okay I may not have loved Frozen as much as a 6 year old girl might, but I still liked it ink, gray markers and white painted details.
I can never turn down the chance to draw Wonder Woman. Yeah I know that I mess with the costume every time, but that’s part of the fun. Honestly, do you know any girl that wears the same clothes all the time
I can’t say that I have a handle on this version of Donna Troy as a character, but I’ve always liked the way artists like Perez and Garcia Lopez handled this BW star field costume. I think that this might be the first time I have drawn it.
Another silver age Legion of Superheroes girl commish. The challenge here was trying to add something to imply her small scale. Since it’s prime autumn leaf season here in New England, I guess I had leaves on the brain. I did a few quick leaf sketches in my backyard to get a feel for them before I tackled this one. Even though this was done in gray markers, I added some loose gray washes of watercolor on the leaves to give them a bit more of an organic look.
A recent con sketch inside the cover of an ART OF VAMPIRELLA hardcover book. I couldn’t see my pencil lines on the red paper under the flourescent con lighting so I ended up drawing it with a white pencil and then inking that…whew, luckily that worked fine.
Another of my gray marker sketches that I beat up into color with Photoshop
I don’t know who she’s pointing at, but Vampy is always fun to draw.
a Leonardo bust drawing for NYCC.
A small Death watercolor piece I did to try out some new paper. Since watercolor works differently on every kind of paper I need to try it first before I commit to anything bigger.
Black Cat remains a popular girl! I did this one for Boston Comic Con.
