“Take a turn with the specially created and programmed video games and pinball machines, or play a round of psychedelic foosball. Harkening back to the golden age of arcade games, contemporary punk rock and graffiti culture, this neon-laden, interactive, mixed media installation gives the audience a chance to genuinely engage with the work without feeling the pressure of the traditional gallery environment.”- Faile
This event of arcade nostalgia and mixture of pop/punk culture was brought to you by the Brooklyn based duo Faile it is from their “Deluxx Fluxx” exhibition which was unveiled at Miami Beach on December 3rd to the 7th 2013. The arcade/art exhibition was wall to wall of eye catching pop punk art propaganda posters all over the walls and arcade leaving you as the viewer feeling like i wish this was my room.
Kasi the cheetah was just eight-weeks-old when he was introduced to Mtani, a 16-week-old female labrador. At the time Mtani towered over her younger friend and let the tiny cub clamber all over her. Now, two years later, the pair are the same height, and live together full time in the Cheetah habitat at Busch Gardens, Tampa, Florida. Visitors at the park can see Kasi and Mtani being trained by keepers and making use of the specially-designed habitat to run, and chase after each other. Kasi and Mtani also travel together to schools and community events to raise awareness of the importance of protecting wild cheetahs and to publicize Busch Gardens’ conservation work. Gender Swap is an experiment that uses The Machine to Be Another system as a platform for embodiment experience (a neuroscience technique in which users can feel themselves like if they were in a different body). In order to create the brain illusion we use the immersive Head Mounted Display Oculus Rift, and first-person cameras. To create this perception, both users have to synchronize their movements. If one does not correspond to the movement of the other, the embodiment experience does not work. It means that both users have to constantly agree on every movement they make. Through out this experiment, we aim to investigate issues like Gender Identity, Queer Theory, feminist technoscience, Intimacy and Mutual Respect.-http://www.themachinetobeanother.org/?p=1025
