Trash Turned Into Art By Visual Artist Elisa Insua From Buenos Aires
ELISA INSUA
Elisa Insua was born in Buenos Aires in the year 1990. She had an almost immediate obsession for art and color. During all of her studies, she kept an outstanding academic level.
In 2008 she entered Torcuato Di Tella University, to study Economics and Business successfully graduating at the age of 21. In 2010 she received a scholarship to study at University of Amsterdam (UvA), where she was surrounded by young artists, and where she accentuated her passion for drawing. The Netherlands and her travels around Europe triggered her creativity and, upon her return to Buenos Aires, she started producing even more prolifically.
In 2011 she had her first group show at ArtEf gallery, and in September of that year, she was convened for the annual fair Arte Espacio San Isidro as an emerging artist. In 2012 she received a Special Mention in the Regina Pacis School of Art Prize for Emerging Artists and in 2013 she received the Second Mention in the San Isidro Municipality Acquisition Prize.
At the age of 25, she has participated in numerous group shows in galleries such as Dock Creativo, La Real Galería and Il Ballo del Mattone; she has created a site-specific for Plataforma Gallery; she has exhibited in art fairs like Arte Espacio and Puro Diseño; she has been commissioned work for companies like Coca-Cola and Google; she has dictated art courses in the NGO Potencialidades and has given an art conference at Saint Andrew’s University.
During 2013, she has attended art clinics with Fabiana Barreda and Diego Bianchi, and she has studied sculpture with Miguel Harte. After 18 months of working as project curator at Ideame Crowdfunding Platform, she is now finally a full-time artist.
