Gender Swap is an experiment that uses The Machine to Be Another system as a platform for embodiment experience (a neuroscience technique in which users can feel themselves like if they were in a different body). In order to create the brain illusion we use the immersive Head Mounted Display Oculus Rift, and first-person cameras. To create this perception, both users have to synchronize their movements. If one does not correspond to the movement of the other, the embodiment experience does not work. It means that both users have to constantly agree on every movement they make. Through out this experiment, we aim to investigate issues like Gender Identity, Queer Theory, feminist technoscience, Intimacy and Mutual Respect.-http://www.themachinetobeanother.org/?p=1025
The concept for the Look Human brand was developed with the intention to create a momentary reflection of our ever-changing, pop culture through design. Owners, Michael Limes and Tanisha Robinson decided to tap into the deep well of Columbus, Ohio’s talented creative professionals to fuel the force behind the branding and development of LookHUMAN.com. With our office located on the Columbus College of Art and Design (CCAD) campus, the majority of our graphic designers and digital illustrators are CCAD alumni who have just begun their careers in the creative industry. We also have a team of social media marketing professionals who are responsible for spreading our designs across every inch of the internet.
Our Storenvy shop is curated and maintained by me, Maria Maggio. I specifically choose each and every design that I add to the Look Human shop to match the eclectic interests of the Storenvy shoppers. Our method of creative inspiration is unique to say the least. The greater portion of our days are spent visiting regions of the internet that exist for no reason other than delightful, mindless entertainment. We carefully sift through the content of these recreational websites in search of the most popular social media trends and topics. We then share the information we’ve gathered with one another during our weekly meeting — one that bares a striking resemblance to an episode of TMZ — and brainstorm ideas for new designs based on the research we’ve done. And with the flexibility provided by our on-demand printing process, our exploration of self-expression through design is virtually endless.
Outside of designing t-shirts, we take a great deal of pride in our community and make sure to set aside time to give back on a regular basis. In addition to routinely volunteering at our local homeless shelter, we also work with The United Way of Central Ohio. For our most recent United Way project, our office painted nutritional designs onto lunch trays that were distributed to inner city schools by The Children’s Hunger Alliance.
At HUMAN, we celebrate the individuals who refuse to be tamed; the fun-loving, free-spirits living their lives one wild party at a time. Our designs offer an indelible souvenir of all those crazy moments that leave you feeling forever young, wild, and free.
“Live for the moment. Dress for the moment.”
