Maps Tribute To The Animal Kingdom Called Mappa Animalia By DAU-DAW.
ABOUTÂ DAU-DAW
DAU-DAW consists of two guys from the city of Aarhus, Denmark – Jeppe Knudsen Ringsted (DAU) and Nicolai Søndergaard (DAW).
The name we chose for our brand has been put together from two tattoos we got in Thailand some years back (but thats a whole other story!).
Jeppe is the creative mind behind the posters, while Nicolai is the managing part of the business.
Ever since he was little, Jeppe has always had a fascination for tiny stuff like model trains, the landscape you build around it, those little finger skateboards and ramps, etc.. It’s safe to say that most of the posters you will find here on this webpage are greatly inspired by this fascination for small worlds.
ABOUT MAPPA ANIMALIA
This collection called Mappa Animalia is meant as a tribute to the animal kingdom. Each map is honouring a specific class/family/subfamily of animal by naming mountains, seas, lakes, cities etc. after fictional and non-fictional animals falling within each group. For example one map is made in the image of the tiger. That one is called Pantherinae – meaning big cats – and it represents both the tiger, lion, jaguar, leopard and snow leopard. Every one of these big cats then has its own country on the map.
The level of detail is made to match that of a real school map.
