Q. Hey Toyo welcome to Diabolical Rabbit. Tell the viewers alittle about yourself.
A. Sup, I’m Nick, but everybody calls me Toyo. I’m a beatmaker, sound designer and just a big music geek.
Q. When did you start making beats?
A. Honestly, I had been trying to make something ever since 2018. But in 2020, when we had Covid lockdown – I started doing it seriously.
Q. Who were or are your influences when it comes to producers?
A. Well I try to know every producer who has made the song I really like, but my all time Top 3 will be: 1. J Dilla, 2. Just Blaze and probably 3. Kanye.
Q. How would you describe your sound?
A. You know I always think about space while making stuff. Maybe I’m sick and tired of our planet, but I swear to God, I think about space and other galaxies every time. This is some alien shit for real.
Q. What is your process when you are making a beat and how long does it usually take to make a beat?
A. You know, as many producers, I have 2 ways of creating something. One is just me sitting and doing something random without even thinking about result, and another is me trying to make something, which has the same vibe as the song I like. And usually it takes about 30 minutes to make a beat, but sometimes I can sit for 1-2 hours just drowning in this process.
Q. Do you have a favorite music artist?
A. I have many favorites right now: it’s Ken Carson, Destroy Lonely, Rich Amiri, Kankan and probably Yeat. Guys like Carti and Uzi are just legends right now, so they’re even higher than favorites, you know.
Q. What music artists are you listening to at the moment?
A. I named most of the artists I listen to right now, but I’m also listening to UnoTheActivist a lot at the moment.
Q. Random question, what’s your favorite food?
A. Yooo, as I’m not from very wealthy family – I eat almost everything and love trying something new when I have an option. As I’m from Russia and my dad was living in Ukraine for some time – I kinda acquired the love for different kinds of soups (as borscht and solyanka – guys who are reading these are probably laughing).
Q. And last but not least where can the viewers find your you and your music at?
A. Since I started uploading my beats, I always share the link through Reddit and subreddits as r/trapproduction and r/Fl_Studio (as I’m making shit in Fl). But people can just type “Toyo Kioshi” in YouTube and look through the beats I made. Nothing complicated.
